21st Century CCLC Grant Program

Overview of the Program

Dorsett Shoals Panther Clubhouse is proud to offer the 21st Century Community Learning Center federally funded grant program which concentrates on early intervention to help our students succeed in their education.

Our program is strategically designed to increase student academic skills, improve goal setting & self-esteem and provide exposure to life-skills through hands-on activities. We currently provide academic tutoring and enrichment for selected students in kindergarten through fifth grade. This is a free program for qualifying students.  Qualification for this program is dependent upon teacher referral as well as a student assessment to be examined by the directors of the program.  Students attending must have a current registration form on file each year.

Program Hours:

3:00-5:15 p.m. Monday- Thursday and 3:00-4:45 pm on Friday (on the days school is in session).

Regular daily attendance is a requirement of the grant.

Program Activities:

Students have daily homework assistance, math instruction, physical education, and enrichment activities.  Certified as well as classified staff members use hands-on activities to both remediate and accelerate students based on individual needs.  Enrichment activities are not limited to but do include: nutrition/cooking, life skills, spanish, character education, gardening, music, book club, and computer lab instruction.

Parent Responsibilities

Parents of these students are required to attend at least 4 parent meetings/school functions during the school year. These meetings can include PTA meetings, parent/teacher conferences, school events, scheduled parent informational meetings, and special student performances.
