The Douglas County Board of Education will hold a special called meeting on November 9, 2009 at 6:00 p.m. in the School System's Central Administrative Office Board Room. The purpose of the meeting is to hear a presentation from the Georgia School Boards Association (GSBA) regarding Superintendent Search Program services.
"We want this important process to be very transparent with as much public input as possible," said Board Chairman Jimmy Bartlett. "There will be a time for public input at the meeting on November 9, and we encourage the public to attend this presentation. In addition, there will be ample future opportunities for the public to provide input as we work through the selection process."
"It is important that we utilize an effective data-collection strategy during this superintendent selection process, and it is my intention that we collect as much feedback as possible from the public," Bartlett said. "Mr. Remillard has done an excellent job serving as our superintendent and it will be difficult to find a person of his caliber to replace him. Since the role of the superintendent is not only important to students, parents and staff but encompasses the entire community, public input is needed in the process. We plan to be open and transparent with the selection process. As with our previous superintendents, our next school superintendent will directly impact Douglas County."
The address of the meeting location is 9030 Highway 5, Douglasville. The administrative offices are located at the corner of Highway 5 and Gurley Road.
