What Happens When Schools and Families Work Together?

Parents are an important part of the process of educating students and improving schools. Involved parents can foster a love for learning that can influence their child for a lifetime. High student achievement not only benefits the student, but also improves the school. Another benefit of parental involvement is that clear communication between school and home is established.

Henderson and Mapp (2002) stated that when teachers engage in a caring and trusting relationship with parents and recognize them as full partners in their learning, then parents’ desire to be involved in the school. In addition, students with involved parents are more likely to

·        Earn higher grades and test scores, and enroll in higher level programs.

·        Be promoted, pass their classes and earn credits.

·        Attend school regularly.

·        Have better social skills, show improved behavior and adapt well to school.

·        Graduate and go on to post secondary education.

The benefits are great if you are a huge part of the partnership! So, sign up today! We need your help to be the best we can be!
